I have a Ruger Mini-14, but I'm not sure that would be the best one for the house.  I think I would use my Ruger .44Mag Carbine.

It would come down to the ammo and concerns of "over penetration" issues in the house. I have a few "short" 223/556 firearms that I'm hesitant about using as Home Defense" weapons for just that reason.

If I found myself in the wrong situation in the wrong part of the house and the only weapon I could get my hands on was a rifle, then it would be the best weapon to use.  Otherwise, a shotgun or pistol with ammo designed for "hallway" distances.

Be careful what you ask for; you might get it.

**S&W M&P 5.56**   Capacity?  Yup.  Accuracy in a hurry?  Yup.  Stopping power with HP's?  Yup.  Dependability?  Yup.

It's got my vote!  Will never sell mine, nor the inventory of spare parts for it.  It, and one of my glocks, will be the last two I'll ever, make that never, part with.  Ok, maybe I'll keep the Remington 870 and the Nat'l Match.  Of course, the revolvers are tuff as hell...  Cheesy
