Combat Shotgun I at Smith and Wesson

Combat Shotgun I

If there ever was a point and shoot weapon, it is the shotgun. From the trench guns of WWI, all the way up to today's application of the shotgun in law enforcement, military and home defense. No other firearm out there commands the respect that a 12-gauge shotgun does, when you rack that slide.

In this one-day course Mike Rayburn will take his knowledge of point shooting and apply it to the shotgun. When you're in combat, whether it's with a handgun, rifle or shotgun, your body will instinctively react to the stress when your fight or flight response kicks in. This course will teach you to work with those natural reactions while applying the shotgun as an effective tool.

Some of the topics covered:

    * Dispelling The Recoil Myth
    * Proper Mounting & Stance
    * Combat Loading
    * Movement
    * Rapid Firing
    * Ready Positions
    * Under arm Shooting
    * Hip Shooting
    * Low Light

STUDENT MATERIALS: 12 Ga. Shotgun, 60 rounds of trap load, 25 rounds of 00Buckshot, belt, boots, loose fitting BDU style clothing, ball cap, eye & ear protection.

Class time 7:45am - 5:00pm

Feb 20
or
April 24

I have no affiliation with this course,
though I heard that the company (Smith and Wesson)
knows a few things about firearms Smiley

I will be at the Feb 20th course

hmmmmm, point shooting a shotgun.
I missed that statement in my eagerness to just take any shotgun class.

Last summer I had a whole day of point shooting
as a private lesson with Pete Kautz

I recommend Pete for private training, and am always looking for an excuse to go see him again. Anyone want to shoot some coins this summer?  His Bowie instruction is first rate also.

Thanx "Noob", good info there.  I'd love to take a shotgun course like that.

Anybody else out there take a combat shotgun course?  If so, which one(s) and what did you like and dislike about it?

I am also planning on taking
Louis Awerbuck's shotgun course when he is in WV this fall

http://www.yfainc.com/schedule.html

I was told he was a big fan of the ghost ring sites
(which my dealer tried to talk me out of)
if this is true then it will not be an instinctive shooting class.

U.S Training Center (aka BlackWater)
has a three day shotgun class. I hear their ranges are
amazing.
